The Foreign Service Academy has launched a five-day training program on Protocol and Etiquette for officers from the Office of the Auditor-General.
The training seeks to equip participants with vital skills in diplomatic protocol, official etiquette, and event management
Speaking during the official opening of the training , the Ag Director – General of the Foreign Service Academy highlighted the growing importance of literacy and competencies in diplomacy for public officers, especially in light of emerging global challenges such as climate change and artificial intelligence (AI). These transboundary issues are reshaping the contours of international cooperation, governance, and accountability, demanding a more strategic, informed, and globally engaged approach to public sector leadership.
“Public servants must be more than experts in their core disciplines – they must be globally aware, diplomatically smart, and prepared to respond to transboundary issues like climate change and AI,” said Ambassador Wamoto
It is anticipated that the training will enhance the capacity of senior officers in the auditor general’s office to effectively engage with their counterparts from across the world, development partners, and international forums.
This initiative also supports Kenya’s broader development priorities under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda By blending diplomacy with accountability, the program helps position public institutions to lead national transformation while engaging constructively in global and regional partnerships.
The Foreign Service Academy’s ongoing efforts reflect the government’s commitment to building a globally responsive and professionally grounded public service equipped to confront emerging global realities and champion Kenya’s interests on the world stage.
