The Director-General for Political and Diplomatic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs  Amb.Josphat Maikara has called on newly appointed Ambassadors, High Commissioners and Consuls General to uphold integrity, professionalism, and patriotism as they prepare to assume their diplomatic duties abroad.

During the closing ceremony of the two-week Pre-Departure Training at the Foreign Service Academy in Nairobi, the Director-General commended the diplomats for their commitment throughout the programme, noting that they carry the important responsibility of advancing Kenya’s interests and values on the global stage.

The training covered a broad range of topics including Kenya’s foreign policy priorities, economic and commercial diplomacy, diaspora engagement, protocol, etiquette, and mission security.

The Director-General  stressed the importance of continuous learning, teamwork, and exemplary conduct, noting that the success of Kenya’s diplomatic service depends on the professionalism and integrity of its envoys.

The D.G Foreign Service Academy Amb. Wamoto, on his part, urged the ambassadors to remain agile and responsive to the rapidly changing dynamics of international diplomacy, underscoring the importance of continuous learning and innovation in addressing emerging global challenges.

The programme, organized by the Foreign Service Academy, forms part of the Ministry’s capacity-building efforts to prepare envoys for the dynamic and evolving field of international diplomacy .                                                         

 Among those appointed by H.E President William Ruto are Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri, former Chairman of the Public Service Commission and a former diplomat in Cuba, will serve as Ambassador to Ankara, Turkey, bringing extensive experience in diplomacy, public administration and governance.

Amb. Lucy Kiruthu, Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a career diplomat, has been appointed Ambassador to Bangkok, Thailand. She is recognised for her strong negotiation skills and strategic leadership particularly in revamping the Kenya Foreign Policy.

Amb.Joseph Musyoka Masila, former Head of the Middle East Desk, will serve as Ambassador to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bringing deep expertise in regional diplomacy, economic and trade relations.

Amb Edwin Afande, is a seasoned diplomat and former  Deputy Head of Mission in the United Kingdom, will serve as Ambassador to Austria, leveraging his experience in bilateral and multilateral relations.

Henry Wambuma, former Acting Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed High Commissioner to Bujumbura, Burundi, bringing valuable experience in diplomatic protocol and high-level coordination.

Former Labour Cabinet Secretary Florence Chepngetich Bore has been named High Commissioner to Namibia, where her extensive experience in civil service will enhance Kenya’s engagement in Southern Africa.
