The Foreign Service Academy (FSA) has graduated a new cohort of officers after a two-week pre-departure training programme designed to prepare them for foreign service. The officers, drawn from the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs and other government agencies, will soon take up postings in Kenya’s missions abroad. Speaking during the closing ceremony, Acting Director-General Amb. Patrick Wamoto, urged them to apply the skills gained in advancing the country’s diplomatic and economic interests. “You are now equipped to represent Kenya with professionalism, resilience and cultural intelligence. Remember, you are the face of our nation—tasked with building partnerships, promoting trade and protecting Kenya’s image globally,” Amb. Wamoto said. He highlighted the government’s focus on transforming missions into hubs of economic diplomacy, while also stressing the growing role of digital platforms in modern diplomacy. The graduating officers thanked the Academy for equipping them with practical tools to navigate an increasingly complex diplomatic environment. The training is part of FSA’s mandate to strengthen the capacity of Kenya’s diplomatic corps and enhance the country’s representation on the global stage.
